Ian Wright rarely disappoints when he is on Match of the Day duty and his son Shaun Wright-Phillips couldn’t help but have a dig at him after Manchester City’s triumph over Arsenal.

The game at the Etihad was hyped up as a title decider and to Wright’s disappointment, City were the dominant side from the off. Pep Guardiola’s side thrives in pressure and they stepped up to the plate last night.

City’s dominating 4-1 display made it seven wins on the bounce in the Premier League and they now sit just two points behind Arsenal with two games in hand.

Former City winger Wright-Phillips couldn’t help but have a dig at the Arsenal pundit after the game, taking to Twitter to say: “Hi @IanWright0 how’s things? Just checking in… Hope you’re ok dad.”

Gary Lineker couldn’t resist stirring the pot live on air and read out the Tweet with Wright sat across from him. The Arsenal pundit’s response still has us chuckling away now.

“He’s so annoying, someone that I taught to wee,” Wright hilariously responded. “I taught him how to wee this boy, now look at him. He still can’t reach the toilet now.”

Even after his side has lost a crucial crunch match in the title race, Wright still manages to put a smile on our faces with his hilarious analogies.

Mikel Arteta conceded after the game that his side were second-best to Man City on the night and that his side fell below the levels they have reached this season.

“Analysis is clear, the better team won the game, they were probably at their best, especially in the first half and we were nowhere near our level. When that happens, the gap becomes too big,” Arteta told Sky Sports.

“In the first 30 minutes, all the basic things you have to do against an exceptional team in terms of competing, winning duals, understanding what the game requires, we didn’t do it and we got punished and we could have been punished even more.

“We wanted to tweak a few things but we were unable to execute. We have to be loyal to what has brought us all this way because we have done it in the past as well in different ways. It doesn’t guarantee you anything but it is time to look in the mirror as well at what we could have done better.

“We played an exceptional team but we are an exceptional team too and today we were not at the races at the level required to win the game.”

Arsenal fans will no doubt still be hurting from the result last night, but Wright’s interaction with Wright-Phillips on MOTD has to put a smile on your face.
